Lisa hears your story, your why, and your goal. She assesses whether this is the right partnership. Not every book is an LWI book — and that integrity is what makes every LWI book matter. Pricing and deadline are discussed openly and honestly.
Before any work begins, agreements are sent and reviewed. Lisa reviews enough of the manuscript to determine what type of editing is needed — developmental editing or line editing — so you know exactly what you're signing on for.
A payment plan agreement is signed before work begins. No exceptions. This protects both the author and the integrity of the process.

Stage 4
The Kickoff Meeting
Your first official meeting sets the foundation for everything. Expectations, timelines, meeting frequency, book cover direction, book size, and format are all established together so everyone is aligned from day one.
A dedicated text thread is created for open, ongoing communication between you and the LWI team. This keeps the relationship alive and accessible between formal meetings — because publishing a book is personal, and you should never feel alone in the process.

Stage 6
The Voice Protection Zoom
Before a single edit is made, you, Lisa, and the editor meet on Zoom. You speak. We listen. We hear your rhythm, your passion, your natural way of telling your story. That voice becomes the standard against which every edit is measured. Nothing gets changed without it.
07
Stage 7
The Editorial Process
The editor begins working on your manuscript. There is consistent back and forth between all parties to keep everyone aligned. If more content is needed, we work on it together. Life happens — and pivot time is built into every timeline because we know that life doesn't pause for publishing.
While editing is happening, the publishing infrastructure is being built. KDP, Bowker, and IngramSpark accounts are created. ISBNs are purchased. Your book is being prepared to enter the world properly — with the right foundation beneath it.
You review and approve all edits. Before sign-off, we return to the original why: does this manuscript deliver what you hoped your reader would feel? If yes — you sign off. If not — we keep working until it does.
Proofs are ordered from one platform. Physical copies are sent to you, Lisa, and the editor. Everyone holds the book in their hands before anyone approves it for publication.
All three parties — you, Lisa, and the editor — give final approval on the proof. Every voice matters. We do not move to publish until everyone gives the green light.
Your book goes live. Your story enters the world. The reader who has been waiting for it — the one you wrote it for — can now find it. This is not just a milestone. This is a sacred moment.
